News from Japan

We arrived late in the evening and had bite before we all hit the sack. We trained twice the next day and tried to sleep off the jet lag. In our first match we played champions Osaka. We drew 24 all with them. They scored in the sixth minute of overtime and little did we know that we officially lost the match because they scored 4 tries against our 3. Then we played a Samoan team called Avelle and they won late in the second half with a break away try to win 8 points to 7. Our final group match against another Japanese team was 26 all but we won due to tournament rules by scoring first. The tournament rules are very strange and our group being so tight that if we had drawn our second match we would have come first in the group. Instead we have come third so we are in play off for 11th to 8th instead of 1st to 4th because of a single point. The tour has been an amazing experience for us all and we savour every minute. We have seen loads of Japanese culture and the teams rugby is developing wonderfully.

This is a development tour and how successful it has been to date, top of the range facilities, training 3 times a day... it is just unbelievable.
